Theatrical release (PG-13) - Director's Cut (PG-13)
"1408" has been released as a director's cut DVD after the worldwide identical cinema run. Particulary with regard to the changed ending in the director's cut version it is very plesant that nearly all of the DVDs contain both endings. The following comparison deals with the question with one fits better as well as with all the others changes.

Theatrical Version - Extended Cut
Also Mike Newell's mafia-drama was recently released as an Extended version, until now, exclusively in the USA. As almost common with Sony-releases, several deleted scenes were reintegrated. Just that would not be that exciting, but there are also several scenes, which have never been seen before and which are not only for the plot, but also reveal further bloody details. How much the movie actually profits from that, is something, that everybody has to know for themselves.

In occasion of the over a wide area marketed and reshown Director's Cut of part 1 the fourth and, to date, final part of the Alien saga was published over the course of the rerelease on DVD in an extended version in 2003. Contrary to the other three films, the long version of the fourth installment contains the slightest changes.
